This was purchased on a whim for my musician son. The ad says the cigar boxes vary and we received a really nice-looking red and green box - perfect for Christmas! Anyway, I had some vacation days around the holidays and my son and I had a blast building this little amp. And to our surprise, it sounds pretty darn good. I mean, it's not a huge amp so we didn't expect a huge sound but the sound quality was pretty good. It has what I would call an old-school type tone. Works great with my son's home-built Strat (it was made from a kit too). By the way, we changed the design jus a little bit. We positioned hardware, including the speaker, on one side of the box so we could open the top easily, if needed. Works just fine. Would definitely recommend and would buy it again. In fact, I just may buy another for myself.
