I purchased this box a week ago and received it today. This is the third top box I've owned, the second like this style, all three were made by different companies. The latch on this box is plastic but many of them are. No surprise there. My 1st box was 6 years old when I sold it and it had this exact same latching system. I had no trouble with it. A steel plate mounts to the bike and the box pops onto this plate. You can push the red button when the key is turned to pop the box off and carry it with you or leave it behind.I installed it in an hour: Pretty straight forward. Lined up the holes in the front and had to drill for the holes in the back. The mounting plate that gets screwed to the bike is stamped steel with hard rubber feet. Because of this, I used thread locker on the screws and tighten them down just until I saw the metal plate start to flex. Over tightening could bend the plate or pop out the rubber feet. Since I couldn't really torque the screws with a lot of pressure, I used thread locker and snugged them up real nice. Once mounted I popped the box on. The feet on the back of the box push deep into the mounting plate then the front pops down over the latching mechanism. So far it looks like a very secure system. Nice fit. Nice looking box.The key inserts and works fine. Nothing feels extremely cheap. When latched and locked, the bottom of the latch sits flush with the box making it hard to grab it with your fingers to pry it out. There is a nice lip on the lid used to push the box open after it is unlocked. The box opens past half way and the lid is stopped by a strap. This is nice because the lid stays up until you close it. My last box stopped just short of half way and closed as soon as you let it go - very annoying - so I like this one better. After installing the box I drove down a stretch of highway known for hard, jarring bumps. The box stayed in place and did not rattle or make noise of an kind. Again, my last box made noise every time I went over a bump so this is an improvement.Another nice thing about this box is the back rest that comes on it. Its nice enough and hey this normally costs extra.NOTE: DO NOT USE A KNIFE TO CUT THE TAPE to open the cardboard box that this is shipped in. You will put a knife mark in the top of your new top box like I did. I got lucky and it is very hard to see but if you were to just run a knife down the tape you will gouge the top. This is exactly what I was looking for and one of the best priced top boxes out there. I'm not kidding. I looked for over a week; on the net and locally. For being a medium box there is plenty of room. Probably fit one helmet and quite a bit of other stuff (call it a helmet and a half). I have a Honda Reflex and this box looks "right" for the bike - not too big or small. It's quiet and stays put over the bumps and secure enough for what I want to use it for. I would have liked a thicker mounting plate but it mounts properly and its secure so hey, for 25 bucks I think I got a really nice box. And No, I am not associated with this company. Its just that I buy a lot of cheaper stuff and get burned quite a bit so when something turns out, I post about it.I would recommend this if your a scooter driver who commutes or just buzzes around town like I do. Not sure I'd put it on a super bike. Something with that much torque and hard acceleration may cause problems.
