As suggested by another reviewer, I did not use the outer box.Tapping an outlet in my master bedroom, I added an outlet on an exterior wall in the backyard where my landscape lighting was wired to.I started by drawing the cutout of the box on the wall, then using a pneumatic chisel I cut out a section of brick to fit the box.Then from inside the bedroom, I removed the outlet cover and pulled out the receptacle to drill a small half inch hole in the back of the interior outlet's gang box and through the vapor barrier. From there I ran Romex wire to the new exterior opening which was just on the other side of the interior plug. I resealed the vapor barrier with caulk.Then it was as simple as mounting the box and installing the GFCI outlet. To mount the box, I marked the four holes and drilled ¼" holes to insert anchors. I applied the sealing putty to the backside of the trim / flange and press fit it against the brick (using a scrap 2x4 to spread the pressing force). Once positioned, I used the screws supplied to secure the box and finished it off with some caulk.Rather than using the brittle Decora cover supplied with the box, I used the "unbreakable" one supplied with my Leviton GFCI. I did however need to use the slightly longer decora mounting screws that were supplied with the box.I have installed 2 of these now they are durable, weather resistant, and fairly easy to install. I installed mine in brick and there is nothing easy about that. But once a hole has been opened i found the nearest inside outlet and piggybacked off of it. I had it installed in 20 minutes it took me 1.5 hours to use a grinder with a ceramic blade, a hammer drill and a jack hammer to get through the brick and cinder block in my house.the price isn't bad. I installed mine with a gfi or gcfi.I purchased this for the intent on installing on the facade of our church for a wreath. I wanted to have a weatherproof in use cover and outlet but not on the surface of the brick or have a cover sticking out. After getting within 3 days of ordering it came in air packs and came with a 1/2” Black romex grommet and a Brown GFCI and regular receptacle cover, new brick work housing to fit it into after brick work is done and a weatherproof gasket to place between the two plastic structures.To get started I busted brick and passed MC cable into back of box from attic space. On back and sides of the box it has 5 different 1/2” plastic knock outs. After connecting Mc connector, an outlet sits in there fine. There is space inside to put a regular plastic receptacle cover which is not pictured in attached photos but you can see weather resistant receptacle inside. I am very happy with this product and will install at my own house soon and definitely use again. This is definitely worth busting brip ck and retrofitting into existing structures.I purchased this item to replace a 40-year old outdoor outlet which was installed in the brick. While most people will use this item when creating a new brick wall, I used it to replace the home’s original outlet. I had to make the opening in the brick wider/longer to accommodate the new box. This item comes with an outer box and an inner box. I only used the inner box in my installation since there didn’t seem any need for it and it avoid further trimming of the brick. I had planned to screw the box into the brick, but found that since I made the opening just slightly larger than the box, the box fit tightly in and thus, no screws were needed to secure it. I used the provided caulk tape between the brick and the front of the box, mostly on the top and sides. My only issue was that the outlet cover (not the hinged box door), is rather thin and cracked when I tightened the screw. I would recommend this item.Vastly superior to the ugly bubble covers you would have to use otherwise.I purchased the brown covers to match my brown bricks. They look terrific when not in use. But also look terrific when they are in use, you can plug in an extension cord and completely closed the door. I recommend purchasing a couple extras for spares in case someone runs the lawn more into one of them. Excellent American-made quality.Love this product. Wish it came in more colors and offered a shallow option. Couldn’t use it on another job, but worked great here. Simple and quick install. Great finished look. Love the all-in-one install which will keep things weather proof better/longer. Will use again every chance I get.After 6 months or so this product is still maintaining its natural color, which would appear to be due the product being very well fabricated.⁹ Of course everything situation calls for a certain remedy, therefore make sure to choice which product is correct for your specific application. This particular product has a very low profile, and has a very good waterproof weatherproof-in-use cover.Great product. Nice alternative to the clunky boxes typically used outdoors. Only got a 3 for easy to install due to the fact we installed in a stone wall and had to improvise a way to secure the boxes. Took a little while to get a solution that worked. Other than that, they work and look fantastic.
