I bought 2 Dri-Boxes to protect z-wave smart switches on my outdoor Christmas decorations. The achieved the goal of keeping the inner wiring dry (for now). However, they have one annoying trait. The recessed tops collect rain and 1/2 inch of water collects in them. Here when new, not a big deal. Down the road as they age, any slight crack or hole will turn the top into a funnel, directing all of the water in. Poor planning and design. They should shed water off the top.Doesn’t keep the two connection ends dry had to get new cords because it held water and fried the wiresThis is the perfect box for my external Xmas lights.Having bought another more tubular waterproof connector for the lights I found that the lights had a bigger than normal plug top, due to the internal transformers to reduce the voltage for the LED's. This made my first purchase unusable. This box on the other hand is perfect. It is a great size, it will sit at the bottom of the tree with little fuss and I could of connected up a plug almost twice of the size of the one I have in there. I've not had it outside yet so I can't attest to the quality of the waterproofing but having been an electricians and using this type of thing before it looks well made and I have every confidence that it will do the job nicely.Superb little box if you intend to run an extension cable for an outside powered piece of equipment. The size is large enough for a double plug and depending on the size of the transformer you may be lucky and get two in. There is also plenty of room to wind up cables if they of the thinner, low voltage variety. The box maintains it's waterproof nature thanks to a sticky, squidgy rubber grommet on each side; it is more than large enough for a thick outdoor cable. The box itself is easily opened and closed, but I would advise that this is used for more permanent fixtures - the rubber grommet can lose it's stickiness up if too much exposure to the elements or dirt is allowed. We have used it to power a fountain, running the cables at the back of a border. The size of the box was perfect for hiding under a Aucuba Japonica - I didn't point out where it was hidden to my spouse and she didn't go looking for it either but suffice to say she has not manage to notice it yet!Bought to enable me to re-position a stand alone garden fountain. It's a bit smaller than I would have liked but I was able to fit in all the wires ETCIt just holds a 2 gang extension block which is all I required it to doThe clips that lock the lid in pace are a bit of a fiddle to lockHaving said that I don't intend to re-open this unless the fountain develops a problemAll in all it does exactly what I needed it to doI bought these for connecting Christmas lights, they do the job except I am unable to put a timer in the box as well as a transformer and single socket extension. It is well made and water tight but would not be suitable for submersion or burying in the ground
