I researched cat litter box furniture pieces for months before purchasing this item. I really wanted something that was practical, easy to assemble, but also looked less like a big wooden box. I really like the style of this piece--the legs and the vents in the doors made it look more decorative. I also liked the venting in the back for air flow. This piece is very easy to assemble. You might want to have an extra person on hand to help with holding a few pieces, but overall, it went together very easily which was great. I like that this item comes with a litter mat (that collects litter and can be emptied) and a cardboard scratching pad. Our cat is rather large, and he can fit nicely in this box. It's not a huge space, but it's enough for even a larger cat to do their business and exit. You do have to find a litter pan that fits exactly due to the limited space, but if you go for one that is no more than 18 1/2x15x5, you will be all set. The Petmate Open Cat Litter Box on Amazon fit the bill perfectly! $100+ is a lot to invest in a piece of cat litter box furniture, so I did a lot of looking online. I can highly recommend this piece, not only for its aesthetic qualities, but also it's sturdiness, easy of assembly, access and quality. We are very pleased with this purchase!
