I am an artist, and all my pieces are made with a cardboard art backing board with a mat, and my art wasn't able to fit in the frame. It is really high quality of a frame though, very sturdy, and is a 'true' 5"X7" as that is the size of my pre cut mats and boards.However, the 3/4" insert to make the frame into a shadowbox is removable. So I was able to use my art spacers I have (3/8"), cut to size, in the frame, and my art fit! For my purposes, this is ideal in a way, as I was able to make the frame even more shallow with my spacers. It was slightly more inset this way, and I was able to get the back on, but it did take a little finagling.If this frame had foam backing like others want, I would be able to remove that for my purposes and my art would have fit (as that is how it works for other frames I have gotten).Other than the 5"X7" size, I am thrilled to see that this frame also comes in 8"X10" and 12"X12", but I would particularly like to see this in 11"X14", as well as 16"X20". This is the best shallow shadowbox frame I have found for my purposes, and I would use only this frame in various sizes if they carried it.I am teaching an art class in a few months, and this is the frame I will be recommending my students purchase if they wish to use a frame (though I will have to provide them my alternative frame spacers, as I mentioned using earlier).4x6 was perfect for the mini boutonniere that my son wore to our wedding. The box is very sturdy and nice looking quality. It doesn't come with any backing for behind the items that you have, it's just a cardboard thing, but I just flipped the photo it came with around to the blank white side and that worked for my needs.The frame is really nice looking, it arrived undamaged in nice packaging. I would have given 5 stars, but the front opening is not as big as I thought it would be. It's a 5x7 frame, but the actual window size is about 4.5 x 6.5. The item I want to display is 4 .625 x 5.25 so it is too big for this frame.Found an amazing fishing lure made of a Stroh's bottle cap and framed it for my dad. I wish I had taken a picture! Plenty of space between glass and back of frame. Will order again if needed.These are the best frames I have every bought on Amazon. They are constructed well and are a contemporary style. The sizes available suit my needs most often. I also buy them in sizes other than the shadow box for my art. I use the 10" x 10" and 12" x 12" or larger regular frames. They are packaged well and always arrive undamaged.The only reason I gave four stars was four a peice added in to hold your picture in place of you put one in your shadow box it made things a little difficult as to how I could fit everything but thankfully it just falls right out when the back board isn’t in place so I discarded of it.Loved the frame for my projectChipped paint/coating on two corners when delivered and back plate/cover poorly fitting.Bought this frame to hold a butterfly. The frame was originally all white and was a bit muted/subdued. But the shadowbox wood liner comes out and is separate, so I painted that black. It is a great way to accent or change an otherwise plain frame. One suggestion for the manufacturer...Perhaps include a rigid white backerboard instead of just the grey cardboard and white logo page. It would have save me a trip to Staples for some 60LB card stock. But overall nice!This is the only shadow box of this dimension and worth the money. Well made, solid, and has an internal insert that keeps display upright and the right distance from glass. You can take it out, if you want. It is perfect for my needs.I used this for framing a 3-D work. The only thing I didn't like about it is the gap that the clips on the back swing into is very narrow, so when the work was in the frame it pushed the backing up too much for the clip to fit back into the gap. I had to chisel a chunk out of the inside edge of the frame to get it to fit.I wanted to hang a ceramic tile without dealing with glue, this worked wonders. You’ll want to add your own backing as it’s just cardboard, but I wrapped the cardboard in black material and it made a great backing to the tile in the frame.
