Having worked as a barista before, I knew what to look for when looking for a knock box for my home. Something that would be sturdy, steel-forged, rubber surrounding the knock bar and maybe attractive to look at too. This box meets some of those expectations.It is steel-forged, no worry about leaks or a portafilter breaking the knock bar off! And the rubber around the knock bar is as solid as I've ever seen. However, my other points were not so well met. There is a rubber surrounding the steel knock box, but it is very loose. Which leads me to explain how the wood surround is as well made as the picture makes it out to be. I wasn't expecting a nice dove tail, but I was expecting a nice finished corner. The corner of the knock box I received looks like it might fall apart after 2-4 years of use. Wood glue might help, but will look messy. Also, the steel box doesn't fit the wooden box compactly, even with the rubber around it.Over all, sloppy construction of the wooden box. It will do the job, but for how long and at what aesthetic cost? Will be my first return to amazon.It looks really great on the counter and it is made of industrial quality materials. This thing holds a lot of dregs. My only complain is that the rubber on the actual knocker doesn't have a clean seam at the bottom. it has a large gap. This causes an issue which I assure you is minute, however it makes cleaning a little bit more difficult because grounds work their way into the gap. I also worry that it may come off in the distant future but it would likely be easy to replace. I wouldn't let this small defect deter you from purchasing what is other wise a great product.Good knock box. However, the wood box is not squared and leans a bit.I use this every day at least twice.If you make expresso coffee this is a great high quality tool that is not cheapThe metal insert seems to be ok, the wood housing though is of extremely shoddy quality -- joinery is done by tiny nails and showed huge gaps upon arrival (see photos). Any glue join that was there was ineffective. The whole thing basically came apart and is not made to withstand knocking out a porta-filter.Wood surfaces are semi-finished and certainly not to a degree you would expect for a $50 item.Did I return it? Thought about it, but in the end took it to my workbench to rebuild it from scratch.If you don't have a workbench -- move away!I really like this box. It's so simple a product, but it made me so happy. No more do I slam my portafilter against the sink metal. I just hit the rubber. It's perfectly stable. It's easy to clean. I really recommend this to anyone who is tired of clearing their pucks over a sink.Seems like I bought this a long time ago and I still haven't had to empty it even though I'm a regular coffee drinker. So much better than our previous make-shift solution and much more quiet as well. Looks great on the counter. Seems like a silly thing to spend so much money on at first but I'd do it all over again.Rubber bottom cane off wood cheap would expect better quality. It works would be better for home use then a cafe
