The box is not a terrible value for it's price, but there were a bunch of rough spots and nicks on the wood that made it just too bad to keep. I have a feeling that you can get lucky and get one that is perfectly fine though, so it may be worth pulling the trigger on if you are ok taking a chance.This box is being used for jewelry. It's a nice size and made well. No weird smells. Debra H
