The description says "metal" and I wrongly assumed it would be aluminum. It's steel and much harder to work with than what aluminum would have been. It is a sturdy case, however, I question how long it will last since all the structural integrity comes from very narrow plastic at the corners where the fasteners are. Time will tell.
